History of Adams Antiques Fairs

Matthew Adams studied Costume & Theatre Design at Central School of Art in the mid-1970s. On leaving college Matthew somehow found himself living in Iran where he supplemented his meagre teacher's income by trading watches, bags, clothes and accessories between Tehran in Iran and Herat in Afghanistan. On returning to England in 1979 he carried on trading by selling antiques and vintage fashion at the now defunct north London Swiss Cottage Market and by 1980 had set up the thriving Stables Market in London's Camden Lock. In between dealing in antiques, textiles and vintage fashion both in London and America, he has been running antiques, vintage fashion and retro events in London ever since and is by far the most successful and longest running one-day fairs organiser in central London. Along with the world famous monthly antiques fair at the Royal Horticultural Hall, Matthew also runs the fabulous Frock Me! vintage fashion fair.
